Prime Meridian Bank Opens New Bank Office
By Dave Hodges, Democrat Business Editor
Riding a growth wave into 2012, Prime Meridian Bank officially opened its first branch office Friday at 1897 Capital Circle NE.
The Tallahassee bank spent a year planning and overseeing a complete renovation of the building’s first floor. The two-story facility totals 10,000 square feet, with the bank’s customer lobby, loan offices, conference room and vault located downstairs.
Chris Jensen, executive vice president and senior lender, said the bank was fortunate to have a prominent location on a major highway. “This intersection has the third-highest traffic count in all of Leon County, so it obviously has created great visibility for us,” he said of Capital Medical Boulevard and Capital Circle Northeast.
Elliott Marshall Innes was the architect and Ram Construction was the general contractor.
President and CEO Sammie Dixon said the locally owned bank’s solid financial performance led to the second banking office.
“We work very hard. We have a very good team,” Dixon said, also attributing Prime Meridian’s success to “a little luck and the grace of God.”
The bank’s net income for the quarter ended March 31 was $323,403, up from $152,068 a year ago. As of that date, total assets had climbed to $143.7 million, an increase of $31.9 million from the first quarter of 2011.
Dixon said Prime Meridian now has a total workforce of 31, six of whom were added to staff the second office. Recruiting continues. “We are a growing company always looking for talent,” he added.
Prime Meridian opened in 2008 on Timberlane Road. Dixon said the bank plans to bring its account processing functions in-house and is in the process of upgrading its web-based services for customers.
“We already have a very robust system online. We are just taking it to the next level,” he added.
